JUST ANOTHER COMMON SENSE LECTURE

JUST ANOTHER COMMON SENSE LECTURE. "Give Ghc 1,000 to a secondary school dropout and watch him buy a stove, a frying pan, cooking oil and other things to start Indomie business. In just five years, the young man will have a wife, a plot of land worth thousands or million, a Tokunbo car, a TV, sofa, bed, etc in his one-bedroom house. Give Ghc 15,000 to most university graduates and watch them buy Samsung Galaxy phones and several pairs of skinny jeans, take their numerous girlfriends out, take selfies and post them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. In less than two years, they will be buying Indomie on credit from the secondary school dropout and paying rent or staying in their parents' house. The question is: DOES EDUCATION BREED WASTE, ARROGANCE, GULLIBILITY AND STUPIDITY? Education does not necessarily breed any of the above, but it makes you look down on possibilities as "not befitting my status". Unemployment is actually higher amongst the educated than amongs...

TRUTH

When truth bearers become public nuisance and enemy, falsehood and half truth become attractive and well patronised commodity. Truth and honesty is mostly bitter, nuasuating but useful antidote. Truth and honesty is costly but necessary, not all can give or accept. Be courageous to be honest and truthful. Be humble to accept the truth. Never worry about who will be offended if you speak the truth. Worry about who will be misled, deceived and destroyed if you don’t. Honesty's one of the most important attributes in life. It gives you peace of mind where you're not troubled by the lies you tell. In life therefore, if you want to be trusted, be honest. If you want to be honest be true and if you want to be true, be yourself. Always bear in mind that the greatest advantage of speaking the truth's that you don't have to remember what you said. Honesty will always get you farther in life than lies ever would. A lie may open many doors, but they'll only be slammed in your...

HOW I IMPREGNATED MY SISTER

It all started when I turned 19, on the night before my 19 th birthday, my sister whispered to me “I am going to give you a special treat tomorrow”. I was curious to know what kind of treat it is because my senior sister is full of bombshells all the time and unpredictable. My sister Kira as we all call her is the name given to her by our uncle who visits us more often. My uncle is the only family member my sister and I knew since we were toddlers till now because our parents are always busy which makes it difficult to even take us out not to talk of visiting their families in the village. I am filled with anxiety and uneasy when she whispered the statement to me. All of a sudden, my parent walked in and I looked at their faces, all that I said in mind is “I don’t think they even remember the next day is my birthday”.   Even though I was not surprised to notice that about them, it was usually of them to only remember when my sister asks them to buy me a gift. My sister Kir...
